Welcome to the Bulletin Board of the MASS Capstone Project

Professor Wayne Hayes | SUST72001 | Spring 2014

Edition #6: 3/27/2014

We will present and comment on your presentations as a workshop for the public presentation scheduled for April 24. Please provide a three- to five-minute synopsis and at least five sample slides --- style counts. We agreed to hold the presentation to the faculty in MASS in our class of April 9. The course schedule has been adjusted.

I will soon need to provide the number of invited guests to the dinner on April 24. Please give me a preliminary count in class.

Edition #5: 3/26/2014

Our schedule for class this evening calls for a strategy session for wrap-up of your project and your public presentations on April 24.  I will provide a framework and each student will indicate a response to the execution of the final products of the Capstone Project: the final product and a public presentation.

I will also report on how to use styles and create a table of contents in MS Word.

Edition #4: 2/20/2014

I have met with each of you on the status of your Capstone Projects and we have agreed on the next steps. Some of you have already sent revisions. We agree that our next activity should be progress on your Capstone Projects. This is best accomplished by hunkering over your project. I have given each of you my cell number and will send you my work phone number at my home office.

We will not have class on February 26. Instead, please call me at my home office between 3:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to discuss your latest draft or the status/progress of your ongoing work.

Edition #3: 2/15/2014

Each student will meet one-on-one with Professor Hayes by appointment on February 19 to discuss the current draft of the final project. Please make sure that the faculty adviser has a copy of your latest draft as soon as possible.

The class schedule has been revised according to our discussion on February 12.

Edition #2.1: 2/5/2014

Due to the closing of Ramapo College on February 5, we will resume our agenda originally on February 12:

  1. Business and announcements
  2. Be prepared to make a short presentation of around five minutes or so that covers the following items:
    1. How far are you along on the project? Estimate by percentage: 30%? 50? Your call.
    2. How do you feel about your project? Use your own words and remain informal.
    3. What are the top five items on your to-do list for your project? Or four or six, but I want to know what you must do next.
    4. What should you to discussing with your faculty adviser(s)?
    5. Can you imagine or forecast that the final project will look like? Can you describe this to others?
  3. Break
  4. Review and discussion of last year's Capstone Projects and presentations.
  5. Next class.

Remember that our start time for the Capstone Project is 6:00 P.M.. We meet in SSEC-104. I will try to arrive by 5:30.

Edition #1: 1/29/2014

Note: We meet in SSEC104 at 6:30 P.M.

For our class on Wednesday January 29, please confirm that you have processed your application for May graduation. January 30 is the final date for submission.

We will do the following at our January 29 meeting:

  1. Review status of your graduation application.
  2. We will review the syllabus and the schedule for the Capstone Project. We will note protocols on the delivery of work for the Capstone Project.
  3.

If you have not yet done so, please send me the final version of your project submitted at the end of the fall for Professor Padhy.
