Term Project Defined
The SUST640 syllabus indicates that a paper or project is a requirement of the course: A term paper (or other approved project) of around 16 pages based on your proposal @ 32 points. The term paper or project should support economic aspects of your anticipated final project or contribute in any other way to your goals as a student pursuing advanced study around an economic aspect of a theme related to sustainability. The paper will be graded as to depth, content, writing style, and integration. The project is due by May 9.
Use the term project to meet the second goal of SUST640: You must contribute a research project demonstrating how to promote the economics of sustainability. Your topic must pertain to the substance of SUST640, Economics of Sustainability, but should also support your interests. I will be flexible and supportive in the development of a suitable theme. Some intentions that can be pursued here include:
- Your project can develop economic aspects of a final project that you have in mind or may wish to develop.
- Your project can pursue a topic of burning concern to you.
- Your project can define a career path or business plan for sustainability.
- Your project can further a goal or intention you wished to pursue for the Master of Arts in Sustainability Studies
This assignment counts as 32% of your final grade and is evaluated on these criteria, each carrying 8 points:
- Depth, creativity and critical thinking: The papers should analyze the topic so as to reveal depth of understanding and your ability to think through the essential issues pertaining to the topic.
- Integration: The paper should weave together various sources, including reading and observations/experience, into a tight, logical outline.
- Writing style: The paper should avoid spelling and grammatical errors and be well written and presented.
- Content and sources: Source material from books, journals, government documents, selective web sites and other appropriate sources shall be utilized to support your conclusions and demonstrate your grasp of the topic. All sources shall be properly cited in the text and provide a bibliography using either MLA or APA format.
Your term project should be transmitted to me as a MS Word attachment sent to wkhayes@gmail.com. Paper copies will also be accepted.
